Grandma & Grandpa Erb's Fall Visit

Grandma and Grandpa lucked out--they were in town for the fall Dad's Club lunch and bake sale at school.  We lunched with the boys and then treated ourselves at the bake sale.
No visit is complete without a good project!  Sarah got a new electrical outlet in the upstairs hall,  and the boys had help building some "stairs" in their favorite climbing tree.  Grandpa trusted Jacob with the power screwdriver, but he had to help with the manual saw.
John created quite the elaborate structure/bug house?

Fall Concert Fun!

Kristen and I LOVED seeing the Lumineers at Fiddler's Green Ampitheater.  They put on an awesome show!
Our favorite part was when they switched to a mid-theater stage just 10 seats down from our--amazing!
We saw Muse at Red Rocks with Kristen and JR.  Another amazing show with awesome music!

We saw one of our all-time favs, Nathaniel Rateliff, at Red Rocks with friends Meagan & Bob.

Georgetown Railroad & Everett Silver Mine

We had an up-close view to the steam engine on our ride to Silverton---the first car!  There was lots of soot--and Sarah was so glad she wore white pants!?
The views of the mountains were gorgeous from our open car.
 Linda at the mine stop.
Jacob demonstrating how to hold and turn the drill bit with the tour guide.  I think the boys have a new motivation for working hard in school after learning about the kids who worked as "powder monkeys" in the mine!

We a gorgeous fall day in the mountains--the boys are already asking to go again!!

Lockheed Martin night at Elitch Gardens

Grandma, Darin and the boys had fun at Elitch Gardens.
John and Grandma weren't brave enough to go on this rollercoaster.
The merry-go-round is more their speed:-)

Grandma Bolthouse is Here!

It didn't take long for Grandma to get roped into an art project.  Everyone had fun making things out of clay and then painting the dried product.

We drug Grandma up to Copper Mountain to watch Darin and the boys take an intro class at the Woodward Barn (learning how to do jumps and somersaults on skies!?)
The mountains around Copper were beautiful with golden aspens.
John is ready to live on the edge!
Jacob was a natural at doing somersaults into the pits.
Mommy and Grandma were a lot more relaxed with the batting cage than we were with ski jumping--ha!

School Grooveathon

Summit View Elementary's annual fall fundraiser "Grooveathon" was a great success.  The weather was perfect and the school met its goal to raise $40,000 to fund an extra set of specials and teaching assistants for each grade:-)
Kenny & his 3rd grade classmates lined up and ready for the obstacle course.
These hipsters know how to dab:-)
 Kenny scaling the obstacle course
John showing off his lone front tooth and waiting for his turn to throw a ball at the dunk tank!
 Jacob dunked the principal--uh oh!

August: Camping at Turquoise Lake near Leadville

We had a great weekend camping with these old friends and some new friends too at Turquoise Lake.

The Printer Boy #2 Group Campsite was the perfect spot for 16 kids and 14 adults.  LED balloons were the perfect night-time entertainment.  The kids also put on a talent show, dancing to music in front of the fire.
Here's the crew (missing 2 kids)
And here's the lake.  It's COLD, but perfect for throwing rocks!

August: Piano Guys concert at Red Rocks

The boys first concert at Red Rocks was a smashing success! The piano guys were fun, funny and held this crew's attention the entire show!

 Pre-concert selfie
It didn't take long for them to pass out.....school night and all!

August: Kenny (aka Halo)

Kenny picked out this Halo costume at Costco for HalloweenHe proceeded to direct me through a photo shoot.  What a cutie--I don't want him to grow up!!

August: First day of 1st & 3rd Grades at Summit View Elementary

What better way to start the school year than with a game of Monopoly?
Everyone was silly and excited--and Kenny wore the school shirt for the first time ever!

I won't even tell you how many times they jumped to capture this fun shot---and we didn't end up in the ER:-)

Jacob & John lined up in Mrs. Frank's first grade line.
Kenny lined up in Ms. Hagan's 3rd grade line.
The opening ceremony on the lawn is a great way to kick off the year!
