Weekend Project

Darin had a cement project for the weekend, which the boys were a little to eager to help with:-)

Picture Perfect

I have to give my friend, Kristen, credit for thinking of outdoor finger painting!  Kenny & John loved it.  Jacob doesn't like to get his fingers dirty:-)  It's amazing to see how Kenny's art skills have developed over the past few months.  He takes it pretty seriously now!
John LOVES expressing himself through art.  Need to remember that when he's in a mood!!

Great Garage Sale Finds

We dropped Kenny off for an afternoon of fun at his friend, Keegan's, house.  On the way home, the J's and I hit a few garage sales.  John and I were excited about this astronaut jumpsuit ($1) and Jacob was thrilled to have a new golf club & bag  ($1).  Highlands Ranch is the mecca of garage saling....we never come home empty-handed:-)

Our favorite library book

I'm always amazed at how new library books always evoke a Christmas morning reaction in the boys.  Kenny is obsessed with a lego book that features firefighters, police officers, ambulance drivers and lift-flaps!  I might never be able to return this one to the library!?

To infiniti and beyond!

Kenny's best friend, Keegan, was Buzz Lightyear last halloween.  Keegan has graduated to a funny superhero/graduation cap & gown costume, and Kenny now gets to sport the Buzz Lightyear.  Keegan let Kenny borrow the costume.  (Now safely bagged and hidden in the laundry room....it was a little too popular around here!)

Another $5 well spent:-)

I picked up a marble racetrack for $5 at a garage sale.  I was happy to be the one taking pictures and standing on the sidelines.  Darin was in charge of construction and repairs.  Ha ha...needless to say the toy has already graduated to a high shelf in the toy closet:-)

Grandma & Grandpa Erb's June Visit

Grandma & Grandpa needed a pre-vacation fix, so they drove out for a weekend visit.  We had fun playing around the house and garage saling.

Grandpa and Kenny built a water wall.

John ended up sick with a high fever:-(  Good thing Grandpa is good at cuddling!
The hottest garage sale find of the weekend was this battery powered screwdriver with a bunch of screws to secure on the plastic plate.  (Guess who ends up backing them out?;-)

Thanks for visiting us Grandma & Grandpa!

Celebrating 92 years with Great Grandma Gronda!

It was such a treat to see lots of Great Grandma Gronda on our trip back, and celebrate her 92nd birthday!  The boys attitude toward singing Happy Birthday changed drastically when they realized there was cake at stake--ha ha:-)

A Downriver Day in Michigan

We explored the fabulous new park in Woodhaven on morning.  This was a 3-story play structure.  Grandma didn't go above level 2, but the boys sure loved the 3rd floor!
The park also had a little town filled with wooden houses and store fronts.  The boys sprinted back and forth between the police station and fire station for 30 minutes!
No vacation is complete without a healthy dose of ice cream!  Grandma treated us to blizzards at DQ.  Yummy!

Fun with Grandma at the Toledo Zoo!

Grandma Bolthouse treated us with a trip to the Toledo Zoo on our visit to Michigan.  The boys crawled right into this polar bear cave.  Then we got to see a baby polar bear playing with and then eating his lunch!  Yummy!!
The boys couldn't get enough of the seals.  They were really active, swimming back and forth and entertaining us!
The three boys and Baby Girl LeBoutierre (my cousin Amanda is expecting) wanted their picture taken with the giraffes.
This lion statue was more exciting than the actual lions, who were napping as we walked by:-(
The elephants were eating their lunch!  One came right up to the fence in front of us--very social.

Though we were fading fast, we trekked back to the train for a ride before heading home.
The hot day demanded some cool refreshments.  The boys were hilarious with their slushies and long straws:-)

The aftermath of a fun day....sleepy boys who layed around the rest of the day--a sure sign of a fun day!  Thanks Grandma!!

Mr. Independent

Jacob is Mr. Independent these days.  Can you tell?  He even kicks me out of the bathroom now when he's on the toilet!  What a big boy:-)

Kenny the firefighter!

These pictures were from the time of the fire outbreaks in Colorado.  We saw helicopters carrying water to the fires, and even saw a brush fire along the interestate!  Kenny didn't waste any time.  He put on his uniform and with the help of the backyard hose put out the imaginary fires in our backyard.  (I feel lucky that water didn't get sprayed in the house by accident!!;-)
