Popsicle Parade!

Afternoon nap wake-ups have been BRUTAL around here.  Three grouchy boys is not what this mama needs....but popsicles always seem to chase the blues away!  Whew....ready for the long weekend:-)

Kenny's Creation

Kenny has turned so focused (in certain areas:-)  since starting preschool.  He finished breakfast this morning and moved right on to block creations.  This is a train--can you tell?

Kenny the not-so-receptive student

I tried to work on letters with Kenny early in the summer.  He was totally unreceptive, so I gave up.  Then today at preschool, other kids were able to find their own nametag.  Needless to say, Kenny couldn't.  This led to me trying again.  We didn't get too far!  How did I get so lucky to have a 3-yr-old who thinks he knows everything?:-)

Ellitch Gardens Getaway

We had such a fun day at Elitch Gardens in downtown Denver.  It was Lockheed Martin day, so we had free passes, discounted lunch, and a small crowd (it wasn't open to the general public).  The kids area surpassed our expectations.  We only got to about half of the kids rides!  It will be a fun destination over the coming years:-)

Kenny's 1st Day of Preschool

No tears were shed this morning as we packed up the crew for Kenny's 1st day of preschool.  There was slight drama when we wouldn't let Kenny wear his fireman rain boots to school:-)  Jacob & John dutifully sat in the hall while Darin and I helped Kenny hang his backpack in his cubby, wash his hands, and put on his nametag.  Kenny jumped right into play and could care less about us leaving him.  Now what to do with the next 2.5 hours??

Bolthouse Fire Brigade

The Bolthouse Fire Brigade had a busy day responding to multiple emergencies.  Kenny was in charge of dispatching Jacob & John, though their sense of urgency seemed lacking.  Boots were the key component in the uniform....no one has fallen yet:-)

My Brush with Obama!

I was so excited to find out President Obama was coming to Boone, and even more excited when my Aunt Kathie was able to get me a ticket to see him!  It was quite the process....busing in from a remote parking location, going through security, etc.  But we ended up in a great spot for the speech!  We were about 3 rows of people back from the barrier, so I even got the chance to shake his hand.

State Fair Fun:-)

We had a wonderful day at the Iowa State Fair.  The temperature was perfect (too cold in the morning!).  The boys loved all the animals.  The boys were exhausted after lunch, so Mom & I walked around the Varied Industries Building, which put them right to sleep:-)  Kenny was so tired he kept sleeping on Mom's lap while we listened to music from Pioneer Hall.  It was a fun, memorable day that left us all EXHAUSTED!  Ha ha....totally worth it though!

Iowa Highlights

We had a wonderful 2 weeks in Iowa.  It was jam-packed with activity...swimming, parks, library, lots of visits with great grandparents...haircuts for John & Kenny....4-wheeler rides with Grandpa.  Can't wait to go back:-)

It's Family Reunion Time:-)

We had fun at the Erb Reunion on Sunday afternoon.  I enjoyed catching up with all of my 1st cousins who are suddenly grown-ups (I'm the 2nd oldest of 20+).  Kenny took awhile to warm up to his cousin Ashlyn.  She was determined to befriend him though.  While playing on the swings he told her, "That's not the proper way to do it." and proceeded to give her a very technical explanation of how the swing functioned.  She was a good sport!  Jacob & John were the center stage entertainment for the crowd.  They were like little puppies begging for nibbles from people's dessert plates:-)

Fun Friends in Iowa!

My lifelong friend, Jessica, and I got together for a park playdate yesterday.  May is a few months older than Jacob & John...she was a good sport sharing her snacks with my two little piggies:-).  Zachary is about 9 months older than Kenny.  Zachary kept complaining that Kenny was so loud it was "hurting his ears".  This had both Jessica and I laughing since Zachary is far from a quiet child!  What a fun way to catch up with old friends while making new ones!!
