Date Night!

Grandma & Grandpa Bolthouse watched Kenny on Saturday afternoon/evening so Darin and I could get away for a date. It was wonderful to have some time to ourselves and not refer to each other as Mommy & Daddy:-) We took in a Tigers game against the White Sox. The Tigers won, which was icing on the cake!

Bouncy Boy

Kenny is so strong and loves standing on his own, so I thought it might be time to try out the jumper! Sure enough--he loved it. He didn't do much jumping, but walking around in circles kept him entertained for at least 15 minutes. Our house is truly turning into a "kids zone". So much stuff--but it's worth it to keep him satisfied.

Daddy's Chair

Daddy's chair has become a favorite (spit-up comes off leather much easier than upholstery!:-). Kenny was still sleepy after getting up from his afternoon nap. He loves the little froggy blankie--perfect for his little hands to grasp and so soft! (Thanks Aunt Caroline!).

Baby Got Back

Kenny wore his sailor outfit a few days ago (thank you Aunt Charlotte!). It made us laugh though, the last thing a baby in cloth diapers needs is any more attention drawn to the behind--ha ha! At least a big rear end is cute at 3 months--too bad the same can't be said for thirty-something! This little sailor may be "walking the plank" soon. He's developed sleeping issues at night, so our weekend is liable to be focused on breaking him--waahhh!

The Cloth Diaper Experiment

So yesterday was the day....we started the cloth diaper experiment! It took me 20 minutes to assemble the 8 diapers I had (2 cloth liners & 1 disposable liner for each diaper), but the effort paid off. Kenny spent the afternoon and evening in them without a leak! We're taking a hybrid approach...still using disposables at night and on outings (I'm not totally crazy after all:-). Here's a picture of Kenny sporting the cloth version ...the crying is unrelated to the diaper!

"Rolling Over" -- The Video

A New Skill!

I was so excited today when I put Kenny in his little floor gym for tummy time, and he proceeded to roll over onto his back like it was no big deal!? Ha ha...and of course I was a sucker for this new skill. We had to get both video and pictures of it! Our little boy is growing up so fast--yikes!

Friday Night Entertainment

Our lives have changed significantly in the last couple of months, but that doesn't mean we still don't have fun:-) Darin is coaching Kenny on walking (never mind crawling--it's not important!?). So our Friday night was filled with walking practice. Kenny's legs must have some muscle under the chub--he can support his own weight and even take baby steps.

Sleeping Angel

Kenny had a big morning and missed his nap, so he was out like a light this afternoon--and too cute not to photograph:-)

2 Month Shots

Kenny (and Mommy) survived the first round of vaccinations today. It broke my heart to inflict pain on the little guy, especially after our happy little photo shoot this morning. He was talking, cooing and laughing--he had no idea that pain was in the near future:-( He seems to be doing ok though. Thank goodness for the pacifier and the swing!

The results are in...

Kenny finally had his 2-month checkup yesterday. We were curious to find out his stats--it seems like he's grown so much in the last couple of weeks! He's officially a big boy weighing in at 13 lbs 5 oz and measuring 24.25" long. Both measurements are in the 90th percentile! He's growing stronger by the day and prefers standing to sitting now. We tried him out in the bumbo seat--a good workout for the neck!

Lovely Ludington

Darin, Kenny and I took a much needed weekend away to Ludington in western Michigan.

The weekend was filled with activities we love, and we were so glad that Kenny loved them too!

Hiking and boating were fabulous--and the sunsets were icing on the cake, or should I say cherry on the sundae since there's a delicious dairy with homemade icecream in Ludington. Gotta jet to the gym now:-)

5th of July Picnic

The weather finally turned July-like on the 5th of July. We took advantage of the beautiful day with an impromptu picnic at the Ledges. Here's Uncle Nathan holding Kenny....they've yet to really become comfortable with one another (I think Nate is scared of getting puked on!?). Kenny snuggled right up with my Aunt Becky. She was singing to him the whole time--he loved it!

Jon & Shannon's Wedding

We had a family wedding on the 4th of July. It was outdoors on a golf course, and I had to steal Kenny's blanket because it was so cool out! We had a wonderful time and got to see all of the Erb family. Here's Kenny with Great-Grandma Erb. A bunch of the men decided to wear hawaiian shirts for the occasion. Kenny, Great-Grandpa Erb and Grandpa Erb are laughing over some old lake stories. And of course we couldn't pass up the opportunity to get a little family picture!

Fun at the Lake

It was a chilly week in Iowa...a little too cold for the lake:-( But we made the most of our vacation time with lots of walks! Grandma and Kenny are ready to head out for one in this picture. We also played lots of golf, so Kenny took a couple of naps in the golf cart. But he managed to get a few in at the cabin. I think he was in this position a lot during the pregnancy....that little behind was always sticking out and making my belly lopsided!?
