Memorial Day Hike: Castlewood Canyon State Park

Our Memorial Day outing was in beautiful Castlewood Canyon, just 30 minutes from our house:-)  If you look really hard, you can see Pikes Peak in the background.
What an adventure--the boys LOVED all the boulders.
They made for great rock climbing!
Jacob showing off his skills...he scaled this rock 5 times.

There was an injury in the canyon....so we got to see the equipment firefighters use for mountain rescues (think orange rescue sled mounted on a single wheel with four handles for four firefighters).  I'm thankful we weren't the ones being rescued!!

Construction Zone

Darin spent Monday morning resurfacing the concrete on the front step.  Kenny was the construction manager....he wore his construction vest and created signs so no one would step on the wet cement.

This kid cracks us up on a regular basis:-)

Kindergarten Graduation Pictures

Kenny rocked graduation.  Starting with introducing himself and his future career (police officer).
Chillin' and waiting to perform "Reading Rocks"
Kenny and Connor were the "I" in the KINDERGARTEN poem:  I is for Imagination that we use every day (we rehearsed so much that I'll be saying that line when I'm old and senile:-)
 The graduate with his diploma.
Ms. Tyler was our savior this year.  She has two teenage boys, connected with Kenny and somehow learned his language.  We LOVE her:-)
When asked what his favorite thing was about Kindergarten, Kenny replied, "Having a boy teacher!".  Mr. Madrid was awesome!  Enthusiastic, on task, and wonderful to Kenny.

Kenny's a Kindergarten Graduate!

Interview with a kindergarten boy....his answers were amazingly short!
Oh my....preschool graduation, kindergarten graduation....now no graduation until 6th grade--whew!  Kenny did a great job singing 5 songs with his class.  He also announced what he wants to be when he grows up (video above:-).
No graduation would be complete without a diploma.  Here's Kenny accepting his.

Jacob's Last Day of 3-Yr-Old Preschool

Jacob turned into a little academic over this last year, thanks to Ms. Tari....
....and Ms. Julie!  His favorite friends (besides John), were Colton, Maddox and Witten.
Jacob is great at tracing letters and loves signing his name.  He also loves playing superheros with his friends on the playground!

John's Last Day of 3-Yr-Old Preschool

John had a great year at preschool!  He loved getting lots of hugs from Ms. Julie.
Ms. Tari was so patient and helped John do lots of art projects.  John will miss these to lovely ladies....and all the other girls in the class (Jocelyn, Melanie, Hadley, Alexa).  This boy was a heartbreaker and wooed all the girls with his talent for finding worms on the playground:-)

Phase 1 of Summer

Jacob and John's last day of 3-yr-old preschool.....and the start of summer for 2 of the 3 boys.  This special day called for special clothes.  I was thinking polo shirts, but the J's opted for ties:-)
The first challenge of summer....getting a good picture!
 Can we do it?
 Can we do it?
Finally the boys all look and "smile"....but then the camera aim was off.  It's going to be a great summer...I'm just sure of it!?:-)

Happy Mother's Day to Me!

Nothing says Mother's Day like 10" of snow!  We had fun making faces before church....and a great snowball fight after church.  I love these boys!  They have taught me so much.....

.....like how to strike a stellar superhero pose:-)

Biker Boys

We have 3 bikes for 3 boys!  Kenny was at school, but the J's and I went out for a morning spin. It seems like just yesterday we were doing this loop around the block with on baby in a backpack and the other baby and Kenny in a wagon.  This spectacle made us famous in the neighborhood.  And now they're suddenly riding bikes!  I'm not off the hook--I have to give them pushes up the hill:-)

Grandma & Grandpa's weekend in Colorado

We couldn't have packed more fun or projects into the weekend!  Kenny's birthday included lots of dancing with his new boombox tuned into K-Love

Darin overhauled the entire sprinkler system....
Kenny turned 6 and held another soccer camp in the backyard:-)
Jacob assisted his brother with lego building....and combed his hair a lot.....
....until Grandma trimmed it up for summer.
John sat perfectly still for his pretend haircut (shhhhh...he thinks Grandma actually cut his hair:-)...
We squeezed in a trip to the part to ride bikes...
 And picked dandelions....
....and built about 6 lego sets.  Thanks for the fun Grandma & Grandpa!

Kenny's "Hero Factory" Birthday Party

Kenny picked the Lego Hero Factory theme for his birthday party.  He was the manager of the party and in charge of hanging all decorations:-)
Jacob got himself ready for the party....including doing his own hair!
Kenny posing with one of the Hero Factory Bionicles
The start of the treasure hunt.  It was quite entertaining trying to herd 13 kids through the clues:-)
 Clue #2
 Clue #3
Finally--the treasure!  Chocolate Gold Coins for everyone.
 Water balloons were next....
...the kids surprisingly followed directions and only threw the balloons at the bad guys on the corn hole boards.
 Taco Bar:-)
 Singing to the birthday boy!
Ice Cream Sundae bar with Ice Cream cone cupcakes.   What a fun party.  I'm ready for a nap:-)
